The Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital Payments Program was established by Congress to assist hospitals that serve a large number of Medicaid and low-income patients. Reimbursement under the DSH program is based upon the percentage of Medicare inpatient days attributable to patients entitled to both Medicare Part A and Supplemental Security Income ("SSI") and the percentage of total inpatient days attributable to patients eligible for Medicaid but not eligible for Medicare Part A. HPS's DSH solution significantly increases net revenue by finding additional days of service not claimed under Medicare DSH reimbursement for current fiscal years as well as all prior fiscal years for which a reopening or an appeal would be available to the client. With an average of $250 - $400 per day of incremental reimbursement for each additional DSH day identified, the impact on Medicare reimbursement can be very significant. Leveraging the granular precision of our Accutrack technology, we identify all patient stays to determine the Medicaid eligibility status for each patient during their stay and then determine the exact and/or additional patient days eligible for reimbursement and either submit or enable our client to submit it to the hospital's fiscal intermediary.
